Welcome to Montclair Rugby Club
|
Since 1976 this group of rough and rugged players known as The Montclair Norsemen, have banded together to expand and build the sport of rugby in the Montclair, NJ area and nearby towns.
The club has continued to stride forward within the community and has become a staple of Essex county's sports clubs. It continues to grow and is achieving new levels of competition throughout America's north-east Division Two and Division Three leagues. The values of this team go beyond just rugby. Brotherhood, inclusion, fair play, loyalty and respect are all key qualities of making a true Montclair Rugger! |

MRFC Banquet 2024
Nutley, N.J. - Nov 23, 2024 After an incredible season, Montclair Rugby's Winter Banquet was an event to remember. The awards ceremony was held at Luna Wood Fire Tavern in Nutley. It was a night of feasting, dancing and typical Norsemen fun. Of course, four exceptional players received awards for their performance over the course of the year. Montclair's newest center, Skyeler Van Den Berg, won Most Valuable Player this year. Rookie of the Year went to forward, Andrew Heydt. Most Improved to Joseph Fail, prop extraordinaire. And this year's Team Spirit award went to retired player Niall Maloney for his consistent devotion to the team. Montclair Stopped at Playoffs
Syracuse, NY. - Nov 2, 2024 The Norsemen have come to the end of an incredible season. After claiming the NJ Division 3 Title, we were beat by the Syracuse Chargers Yesterday on their home pitch. A sluggish start gave the Chargers an early lead against the Norsemen. But Montclair rallied in the second half and came within two points of closing the gap. Toward the end, the game slipped from our grasp as small mistakes opened the door for Charger tries, resulting in the final score 29-48. Man of the Match was awarded to Kyle "Sponge" Quigley for his speed and intensity. Yesterday’s loss was tough, but it doesn’t overshadow the incredible progress we've made in just a year. The Norsemen will keep pushing forward, and before long, we'll be back stronger than ever, ready to take on the challenge again.
NJ Division 3 Champions!!!
Montclair, NJ. - Oct 26, 2024 The Montclair Norsemen played their toughest game of the season yesterday, defeating Union Rugby and securing their spot as NJ Division 3 Champions!!! After an early season loss to the Mudturtles, Montclair's Norsemen launched a fierce attack in the first half, scoring four tries handily. But Union was the driving force of the second half, incrementally closing the gap with relentless attacks. Through sheer determination, the Norsemen fended off Union's pressure, winning them the match and the title of NJ Champions! Man of the Match was awarded to Savion Wright, who scores tries and cracks skulls like it's nobody's business. Back of the Match went to conversion machine, tackling expert, and fierce playmaker Skyeler Van Den Berg. |
